James G. Gilliland died at his home in New Market, on Sun. evening. He has been an invalid following a paralytic stroke several years ago. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday morning. interment in the Masonic Cemetery, Crawfordsville. He leaves 3 children: Mrs. Scott Wray and Charles Gilliland of Crawfordsville and John Gilliland, of this place. He was 73 years old. - kbz

James G. Gilliland, retired Farmer, Formerly of Near Brown's Valley succumbs. Special to the Journal - Mew Market, Feb 9 - On Sunday night at 11, James G. Gilliland died at his home in this place, after having been confined to his bed for aobut a month with Bright's disease and other complications. He suffered a paralytic stroke some six or seven years ago and after his wife died he gave up farm work on his land near Brown's Valley and moved to this place, where he has since lived a retired life. Since coming here, Miss Susie Bennett, a sister-in-law, has kept his home in order. Mr. Gilliand was born June 18, 1840 and was therefore 73 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by 3 children, one daughter, Mrs. Scott Wray, Crawfordsville, and two sons, John Gilliland, Waveland and Charley Gilliland, Crawfordsville. The funeral will occur from his late home here on Tuesday at 11 and the interment will be in Masonic Cemetery, Crawfordsville.
